Death of the Library by Mail!
Over the past few years, almost no one has asked to use the library. In fact, no one has asked for about 2+ years. The Internet now makes available information much faster than we can supply it via the US Postal Service. Therefore, the Board of Directors has voted on July 24, 2021, to end the Library by Mail.
But there are still about 50 feet of items on the shelves at Sivertsen's home! We are considering how to dispose of it.
If you DO make a request, we will honor it, if the item is still available. You will be asked to please NOT return it!
Such a deal!
We currently have 700+ titles of VHS videos, DVDs, books, and audios.
For $20.00/year membership dues plus return postage, you can receive items by mail all year long! You do need to be in the US Postal System, including APO, FPO, etc.
As of January 22, 2017, returning them via U.S. Mail, at Library Rate, costs $2.50 for the typical item (up to 1.00 pound) and $0.47 per additional pound or fraction of a pound.
Also, the Domestic Mail Manual (the Postal Service's 'Bible'), Sect. 173.5.3, specifies that Library Mail rate applies when items are sent
TO or FROM a nonprofit organization. Some postal clerks don't know this. If you don't wish to politely argue with
them, you may also use Media Mail, which is slightly more expensive. You do NOT need to use Priority Mail, which is much more expensive.
