Dr. Walter T. Brown, one of MCF’s founders when it was chartered in 1983*, passed away on September 27, 2025, at the age of 88.
Dr. Brown was a physicist and creationist who made significant contributions to the creation science movement. He was known for his work on the hydroplate theory, which proposes a model for the Biblical flood. Dr. Brown was also an author and speaker, sharing his knowledge and passion for creation science with many.
I first became aware of him and of Midwest Creation Fellowship when he conducted his In The Beginning creation science seminar at Moody Church in Chicago in 1987. His presentations were fascinating. Most of what he shared I had never been told before, and likely, most of the audience hadn’t either.
His book In the Beginning: Compelling Evidence for Creation and the Flood
has been updated and revised multiple times. The last edition, the 9th, was published posthumously in March 2026. One thing I especially appreciated about Dr. Brown’s work was his willingness to update and remove evidences he had cited when new data became available. Even with some earlier evidences removed, the book is now 640 pages on Amazon. It is also available at no cost online (below).
I am told that he was asked to head the Air Force’s Geophysics Laboratory, but retired from the military instead, to devote full-time to creation ministry.
