“The Relationship Between Science & Scripture“

Some of us have heard it said, “All Truth is God’s Truth.” What is the basis for believing what is true? God’s word is true because Jesus testified to the Father that, “Your word is truth.” So, it is Scripture that is Truth by definition. Science is never true in a biblical sense, but science can be useful.

John’s presentation helps us to sort out the importance of Science and Scripture.

“The Significance of ORFan and Taxonomically Restricted Genes”

Dr. Paul Nelson from Biola University

ORFan genes were discovered in the mid-90s as automated DNA sequencing became a practical technology. ORFans are defined as genes found in a species or genus which have no matching sequences in other species. ORFans are now considered a world-class biological puzzle found all throughout the Tree of Life.

Dr. Nelson, who has published in this area, will discuss how ORFans are detected, their astonishing numbers, and their significance for origins.

There is a growing movement among some Christian intellectuals to dismiss the Young Earth 6-Day creation model. These academics want to replace it with “Progressive (evolutionary) Creation”, which teaches that Adam and Eve were not real people, that the global flood of Noah is “pure fantasy”, and that contemporary science strongly supports an old earth and universe. Come to learn from Terry why this threat to Christian thinking is real, and what we should do to counteract this unbiblical movement.
